As a baseball fan, i am still in shock over this. as a dodger fan, i am even more in shock that nothing constructive has been done to correct the situation. it is obvious that owner Frank McCourt really doesn't understand what Dodger Stadium used to be (in terms of being a great place for families to go t) and what it has become under his ownership(. The problem is two-fold. 1) you have a bunch of thugs who think the game is a war, and behave as such. 2) you have an ownership who ignores the problem as long as the bodies keep going through the turnstiles, thus enabling these thugs to behave the way they do. It has come to the point where drastic measures must be taken. 1) stop selling alcohol at the game. 2) no tailgating in the parking lot. 3)make the stadium and the parking lot an look like an occupied war zone; that is, have security personnel (troops?) at just about every corner of stadium and intersection of the parking lot. Before the game, make an announcement in now uncertain terms (and not by the game announcer... someone in authority of security) that ANY type of misbehavior will not be tolerated and will lead to arrest. Have a portable booking facility in the parking lot like they have at DUI checkpoints or gang sweeps. Then try, and try hard to get families back, like it used to be.
Finally, and i hate to say this as a life long dodger fan, but if things don;t improve, then have baseball take over the team and move the franchise to a safer city. If the fans cant behave, then they cant have a team. It is as simple as that.
I haven't heard any comments from former owner Peter O'Malley. I just wonder what his thoughts are on this. Cant be good.
